This constitutes:
  • Issuing at the time of Demobilization a Basic Needs Kit equivalent to Frw 50,000.This could be in cash or in kind as appropriate ;
  • Arrival Counselling;
  • Facilitation of access to National Identity Cards;
  • Issuing of Recognition of Service Allowance (RSA) in two tranches for Ex- RDF and ex-FAR. The amount varies according to rank between Frw 100,000-450,000 and is expected to be issued to beneficiaries within three months after their discharge. Ex-Combatants receive Reinsertion support in form of Basic Needs Kit (BNK) and Recognition of Services Allowance (RSA). 
  • BNK is equivalent to Frw 50,000, for each demobilized member of RDF and AGs, which is paid on discharge day.
  • RSA varies in value with rank, ranging from Frw 150,000 for a private to Frw 500,000 for a colonel.
  • It is payable to ex-RDF and ex-FAR 
  • Of the planned Reinsertion budget of US$ 17.2m, $10.6m (61%) has already been given out to ex-combatants.

36th Phase of demobilisation of members of Ex-Armed Groups

Preparations of phase 36 of the members of ex-armed groups started upon the official discharge of 212 members of the ex-armed Groups Phase 35 demobilized on 19th March 2010.

 

Combatant screening and signing of oath renouncing combat activities by ex-combatants is done immediately upon arrival at the demobilization centre from the repatriation centres of  Nyagatare TC in Rusizi and Rubavu Repatriation offices.

 

Of 202 members of ex-Armed groups demobilised on 29/6/2010, the highest ranks are  1 Colonel,  2  Captains and  5 Lt.
